I always claim to be the oddball in my family in many ways. I have a family who work in, or have worked in, investing positions and accounting positions. My step father who struggles with macular degeneration purchased one of those massive curved televisions so that he can still sit close and see the ticker tape all day (and oh my gosh his poor broker!). If you say investments in my family, they are talking about financial investments.
This fall reminds me of another kind of investment...investment in children and youth. Helene Foust, the new Director of Youth, reminded us on Sunday of the importance for all of us to "SAY YES" to a commitment to children and youth. I love that she reminded us that none of us are exempt, all of us are needed no matter our age or stage of life and that all of us have something to contribute. So I would like to suggest...
- Check out the "SAY YES" board in the Gathering place for the many ways that our youth need you!!!
- Preschool is back in session this week...please be praying for the children and parents.
- On Children's Ministry Sunday, September 17, they will be distributing names of all the children signed up for Sunday School this year. Take one and pray for the child. Maybe even do something fun like a special surprise!!!
I like to remember that as a church, when we baptize babies and children, we promise to support and encourage them. That means that we MUST invest---everyone of us whether we have children or youth currently at home or whether those days have passed us by. Invest in our children and youth today!!! SAY YES!!!
