GriefShare Program

September 10-December 10

6:30PM-8:30PM│Rm 121/122

GriefShare is a 13-week help and support group for people dealing with the loss of a loved one.  Each session begins with a helpful 35-40 minute video followed by a discussion and support group.  You are not required to speak during the support session of the program.  You can get help just by listening to others.  You will be among others who are also grieving the loss of a loved one.

The group is led by people who have experienced grief and successfully rebuilt their lives.  They understand how you feel because they have been in the same place.  It is not necessary to attend every session.  All sessions are independent and will provide some help.  We hope to see you at GriefShare.

Green Team

Next Meeting

August 27

Ed Kings has been asked to lead a "Green Team" at CUMC beginning this summer, working with Rev. Barb Marshall (CUMC local missions/outreach leader). We would like to open this opportunity to serve to anyone who is interested and able  to serve enthusiastically meeting the expectations for participating outlined below.

Background: as reported by Rev. Patti Napier in the July Contact newsletter, a new sermon series is starting in late August titled “Is your Faith Green?”. The sermon series will challenge the church and each of us individually to consider how we may grow green as caretakers of God's creation. In conjunction with that, CUMC is forming a team of people from the congregation to make recommendations regarding...
1.  Environmentally friendly changes we should make at church, and the priority of these changes. Ideas could range from reduced waste/better biodegradable materials for hospitality/meals, energy efficiency audits, on-site sustainable gardening/composting, landscaping considerations, etc.

2.  Ideas for Kick-off in the Fall and beyond. Are there ways we really kick off this initiative at four church-wide worship. Educational materials and future small group discussion series? CUMC better connecting with the city of Carmel on eco-friendly initiatives? There could be all sorts of possibilities.

The time commitment for this team is only for the remainder of 2020, with potential for longer term participation (or opting out) if momentum builds for this beyond 2020 as an ongoing team. Summer meetings are never easy (especially now) but I’m hoping to have a kickoff meeting later this month to get discussion started.

If after praying over this, you would like to join this team, please respond to Barb Marshall at missions@carmelumc.org.
