Many people who have vegetable gardens witness the growth of their gardens. Some of our plantings produce quickly and others seem to take forever. My grape tomatoes are ready to eat far before my larger tomatoes. Two days ago I checked my garden and I did not see any zucchini that was near ready for picking. Today as I looked, I had a massive zucchini which is going to serve no purpose but to be used for baking! And that is ok as it seems folks really love homemade zucchini bread!!
Throughout our lives, we have so many options for how we grow, what areas of our lives we grow and even at times how fast that growth may occur. I would invite parents and grandparents alike to remember that the most important growth that we can encourage in our children and youth is the growth of their Spirit and their relationship with Jesus. It won't just happen...it won't grow unless it is watered and fed. This summer we had 6 youth participate in an intense spiritual opportunity called WXT and I know as you will hear them share on Sunday, they will tell you that they experienced growth and fast growth because they intentionally committed to this piece of their life.
As our children and youth return to school, whether their first year in kindergarten or final year of college, there are so many choices to be made as to which areas of learning are important to them and their growth. Many of these decisions determine a path they may be setting for their lifetime!
As the school year begins and the schedule fills, don't forget Jesus!!!!
